shrinky dink jewelry – girls of the sea

It’s shrinky-dink time! I’ve been busy crafting jewelry for the San Diego Comicon that’s fast approaching! This means sharpies, x-acto-ing, baking and little jewelry pliers! I’ve been trying to make larger pendants, which means making drawings that measure around 5″x8″ to start, before the massive shrinking that occurs in the oven.

Shrinky-dink Jewelry!

Shrink film/Polyshrink/Shrinky Dink pendants.

The rain cloud and drops were drawn with a fat sharpie and holes punched with a 3-hole punch, which I thought would be way too big, but ended up working alright. Done on matte shrink film and inked on both sides (reversible).

Red and black sharpie.

Watching them cure/shrink in the oven is terrifying, as they curl and warp like crazy before flattening back out as their end size.

Printed using the good old inkjet.

Black sharpie (one of a kind).
