Old Mission and new drawing

While on the drive to Kalispell, MT from Moscow, ID, N and I stopped at the Old Mission, what I later found is Idaho’s oldest standing building (1850-1853) in Cataldo. Though wabi sabi is a Japanese term, it’s most appropriate for this beautifully maintained dwelling. This house was built for the Jesuit men who maintained the accompanying church. It’s funny to think that what we consider as old (150 yrs) is really so young when compared to the historic buildings in Europe and Asia.

On a totally different note, I started a new drawing loosely referenced from this beautiful photo taken by Monika Stojak.
