Painted in the nettles, finally -
14×17″ - pencil, ink and watercolor on bristol.
I started painting in the warm brown spots before even realizing why -
then remembered the natural sting rememdy of rubbing fern spores on your burns. I can’t remember if this actually makes a huge difference, but – better than nothing, right? Apparently peeing on the stings helps, too – or rubbing on dirt, mud, alcohol – almost anything you can think of! …Ferns seem to be a safe bet, so I’ll stick to them.

Here’s a current project: a drawing around 18×24″ in pencil and ink. I’m at a wall, wondering whether or not to incorporate color, some fabric flower collage, or something I haven’t yet thought of. The drawing was a struggle: even though there isn’t much information there, I must have drawn and erased the face at least six times! I think I’ll set this away where I can’t look at it for a few days, and come back with new eyes to see what I’m missing now, but thought I’d post these – if you have any feedback, I’d love to hear it – I certainly need it!
This was taken while the ink was still wet: notice now much the paper warps!
The next few photos were taken after framing, under glass, which explains the accidental self portrait.
